An Affordable Healthcare Delivery Service for Seniors

Picture an elderly loved one in your life — a friend, neighbor, parent, grandparent or partner. Now picture them at home, in need of urgent care for a sudden injury or illness. If they have limited mobility, trouble finding transportation or don’t have appropriate access to medical care, this scenario may lead to a costly ambulance ride to their local emergency room.

While this isn’t an enjoyable visual, the unfortunate reality is that it’s a common occurrence for the aging population.

But what if care for your loved one could be administered in their home where mobile medical professionals could treat them, talk with their family, witness their living conditions, provide better patient education and follow-up with their primary care provider?

With DispatchHealth, this seamless, integrated and effortless healthcare experience is possible. And not only is it possible — it’s affordable.

DispatchHealth sends a board-certified medical team to the patient’s home or senior facility. Each medical team consists of either a physician assistant or nurse practitioner, along with a DispatchHealth medical technician (DHMT) and on-call physician. We can treat a variety of ailments, including urinary tract infections, minor sprains and fractures, dehydration, joint or back pain and more. DispatchHealth can also administer IV fluids, prescribe medications, take blood tests and suture a patient.

To ensure continuity of care, we provide a detailed report to the patient’s living facility, home health agency and/or primary care physician. Each patient also receives a follow-up phone call from the DispatchHealth medical team three days after the visit to determine how they are doing.

DispatchHealth serviced nearly 7,000 patients over 65 years and saved $12.6 million dollars in medical costs due to avoiding unnecessary ambulance transports, ER visits and hospitalizations in 2017. This year, DispatchHealth is projected to care for 55,000 patients and provide roughly $80.8 million in medical savings.

DispatchHealth is partnered with most major insurance companies, including Medicare and Medicaid. In 2017, we saved a Colorado Medicare Advantage plan over $1.2 million by reviewing 892 clinical charts to determine clinical quality, cost savings and patient experience.
