Denver, Colorado

Denver is a popular, thriving area, and for good reason. The beautiful Mile High City and its surrounding areas enjoy sunny, dry weather and gorgeous mountain views. It’s second to none as a winter sports destination and features miles of trails and more than 200 city parks.

From its beginnings as a mining town, Denver has grown to become one of the top cities in the U.S. for people to live, work and play. And DispatchHealth is proud to say Denver is also the place where our company began. Our two founders, Mark Prather, MD, MBA, and Kevin Riddleberger, PA-C, MBA, MS, opened the first DispatchHealth office here in 2015.

Transforming medical care

When we planted our roots in Denver in 2015, we knew we wanted to change the way people receive medical care, but we could not have anticipated how much our company would grow, and how rewarding the journey would be. Today, our DispatchHealth Denver office includes a staff of more than 140 medical technicians and advanced care providers. We provide:

  • Acute Care: When you call DispatchHealth for an in-home medical visit, you see one of our Acute Care teams. Each team includes an advanced practice provider (physician assistant or nurse practitioner) and a medical technician. We treat a wide range of non-life-threatening conditions in your home. The most common illnesses we treated in Denver in 2022 were upper respiratory infections, urinary tract infections (UTIs) and viral illnesses. Learn more about the conditions we treat.
  • Advanced Care: Many people need long-term care for complex needs, and this commonly requires an extended hospital stay. Our Advanced Care team specializes in providing this same level of care in your home. Led by a board-certified hospitalist-trained internist, Advanced Care is designed for patients who would otherwise need long-term hospital care. Read more about Advanced Care with DispatchHealth.
  • Bridge Care: Our Bridge Care team provides the type of care you would receive at a skilled nursing or rehabilitation facility. If you’ve recently had an emergency room visit or hospital admission and need more care, Bridge Care may be for you. We support your transition home with ongoing, in-home care.
  • Mobile imaging services: You don’t need to travel to receive medical imaging services. DispatchHealth performs X-ray, ultrasound, and other imaging tests in your home. Learn more about DispatchHealth Imaging.

Thoughts from our Denver team

Each day, we come together for our common mission: to deliver trusted, compassionate care in the comfort of home. And here in Denver, our team focuses on providing exceptional care to those in the city and metro areas. A few of our team members describe what they love about the area and working for DispatchHealth:

Connecting with patients

Katie J. Sloter, PA-C, MPH, has been with DispatchHealth for two years as a physician assistant. She enjoys the city life with great food and the arts, but it was her love of the outdoors that brought her to the area.

“I’ve lived here for 10 years, and the sunsets are incredible,” Sloter says. “The mountains still take my breath away. Of course, the 300 days of sunshine was the main reason I moved here.”

Sloter says her favorite part of working with DispatchHealth is the intimacy in understanding a patient’s experience. “It is a privilege to be welcomed into a patient’s home,” she says. “We receive insight into their needs that’s rare in other settings. I enjoy giving each patient the time they need to feel safe and confident in their care plan.”

Providing urgent medical care at home

Makaela McNett, NP, moved to Denver from Los Angeles two years ago. When she joined our team, she was excited to practice medicine in an area with beautiful weather and scenery. But ultimately, she’s stayed with DispatchHealth because she is passionate about providing in-home care.

“Helping people in the comfort of their homes is rewarding,” McNett says. “I have a background in emergency room care, so I know how busy the ERs can be. I’m glad that our team can help reduce some ER visits — it benefits patients and ER staff.”

Helping people heal, one home at a time

For Hollie Johnson, NP, Denver offers diversity, and she enjoys all that the city has to offer. “I love the culture, music, theater and great restaurants,” Johnson says.

On a professional level, Johnson is proud to serve Denver-area residents with their healthcare needs right at home. “We provide a service that truly helps people,” says Johnson. “While we care for those who struggle to travel, that’s not a requirement for our services. We also see parents and their children, patients with a range of special needs or those with chronic health conditions. I see the value in what we do for every patient.”
