We bring expert shingles treatment to you

Shingles can be an incredibly painful and frustrating condition. If you’re coping with shingles and are seeking prompt relief, the last thing you need is the added hassle of sitting in a crowded walk-in clinic or paying costly bills at a major health care facility. That’s where DispatchHealth can help. One of our qualified medical teams – which consist of a nurse practitioner or physician assistant and an medical assistant, along with a board certified emergency medicine physician that is available by phone or video – can provide the treatment you or a loved one needs in the comfort and convenience of your own home. We are on standby 365 days a year, cost the same as most urgent care clinics and a fraction of other health care facilities, and accept all major health insurance plans.

If this is an emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

When to seek medical attention

You should promptly seek medical care if you believe you are experiencing shingles symptoms, which include a painful red rash (although pain may occur without a rash), sensitivity to touch, itchiness, fever and fluid-filled blisters. It is particularly important to speak with a medical professional if:

  • Your pain prevents you from functioning as you normally would
  • The rash occurs on your face, especially near your eye
  • You are 60 or older
  • You or someone in your household has a compromised immune system

Common related conditions

Shingles can occur in any adult who had chicken pox as a child. That’s because these conditions are both related to the Varicella-zoster virus, which can lie dormant in your body long after your chicken pox clears and manifest as shingles years later.

If left untreated

Shingles is a viral infection that typically resolves on its own in about one to two weeks. However, complications are possible, especially in individuals over 60 and those with weakened immune systems. Complications from shingles may include vision loss if the infection develops around the eye, bacterial infections, lingering nerve pain, and other neurological issues.
DispatchHealth’s experienced medical professionals can promptly address shingles symptoms and help prevent complications. Contact us today to request in-home care for non-life-threatening conditions.

  • They brought everything you would see in an emergency room, but the emergency room was our bedroom! They set up an IV. They knew what they were doing. And they were very personable. We never felt rushed. And the insurance covered it all. We didn’t have to pay a dime.
