DispatchHealth accepts most major insurance plans in the areas we serve. For eligible patients in our insurance network, Transitional Care is usually covered at the same rate as an in-network office visit. We always recommend checking with your insurance plan to confirm costs.

The cost of a Transitional Care visit is typically the same as an in-network office visit. We’ll bill your insurance, and your insurance plan will determine the percentage of the total bill for which you are responsible. As with any healthcare service, the amount you owe may vary depending on whether you’ve met your deductible, so it’s a good idea to check with your health plan.

Your healthcare provider will help you decide if Transitional Care is the right choice for your needs. Only patients who are recommended by their doctor or health plan are eligible for this service.

We employ physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses — the same kinds of experienced healthcare professionals you might find in a hospital. Transitional Care always begins with a visit from a healthcare professional to your home. Based on your needs, members of your care team will continue to provide care in person or remotely throughout your Transitional Care support. An emergency medicine doctor is always on call.

No. Transitional Care is designed to provide a period of extra, in-home support immediately following a health episode — a type of care that your usual doctor or specialists may not be able to provide. We coordinate with your usual care team by sharing a recap of your visit, so they’ll be up to speed on all the details of your recovery when you go for your follow-up appointment. Research shows that patients who receive dedicated recovery support at home are far less likely to end up back in the emergency room or hospital.
