DispatchHealth: Our Past, Present and Future

Two providers load equipment into rover

DispatchHealth is transforming healthcare for today and tomorrow. Our focus is on higher quality, lower costs and better patient and provider satisfaction. We are bringing novel innovations to market to offer a complete system of care in the comfort of the patient’s home, including same-day acute care, post-hospital care, and hospital alternative care. Our services are designed to supplement a primary provider’s care at a lower cost than facility-based care while giving patients a more convenient and personalized five-star care experience.

Innovating a new kind of healthcare

An emergency room physician and physician assistant founded our company in 2013. They wanted to achieve improved patient outcomes and better care experiences at lower costs, for a new kind of healthcare.

We became DispatchHealth in 2015 and began delivering in-home care to communities in Colorado. By 2020, we’d partnered with health systems and provider groups spanning from Massachusetts to Washington state.

We were in 28 service areas and counting when COVID-19 presented our greatest challenge to-date — spurring next-level innovation and rapid growth. We cared for approximately 140,000 patients in 2020, doubling our year-over-year growth with an expanded footprint. All told, we saved patients and payers $158 million by bringing acute care into the home.

A system of care in the home

Today, DispatchHealth partners with provider groups, payers, health systems, and care facilities in more than four dozen service areas across the nation. We bring the power of the hospital to the comfort of home, across a continuum of services. Our system offers right-sized care for all patients, including:

  • On-demand urgent medical care that avoids ER visits with high-acuity in-home services
  • An in-home hospital alternative for complex and chronic conditions that would normally require inpatient admission
  • Transitional care to help reduce admissions to the ER, hospital or skilled nursing facility

Hospital-alternative clinical capabilities…on wheels

Our mission is to deliver trusted, compassionate care to all in the comfort of home. Home is where patients can recover safely and comfortably, at a lower cost. It’s also where we can solve the challenges facing at-risk patients — particularly those who have poor mobility or are otherwise homebound.

DispatchHealth has the technological and clinical resources to provide in-home imaging and ultrasound, administer IVs, conduct 150+ different lab tests, manage medications and more. We can also monitor patients remotely and intervene as needed to provide virtual or in-person care.

Looking ahead

Everything we do comes back to a talented and dedicated team that’s committed to reimagining the future of healthcare — with the patient at the center.

Partnering with us means having a continuum of in-home care available to your patients. Care that’s convenient and flexible for a seamless experience that improves outcomes, raises satisfaction and reduces costs.
