DispatchHealth is on a mission to provide advanced, in-home medical care to locations across the nation. And we’re excited to announce that Ocala, Florida, is joining our initiative on July 9th, 2021! Following this launch, residents will have access to DispatchHealth’s on-demand, acute care medical services. This modern-day house call is available upon request, where a team of compassionate providers will arrive at your doorstep prepared to treat a variety of conditions, illnesses, and injuries—helping you benefit from comprehensive care when travel is an impossibility or immediate access to your primary care team is limited. In short, DispatchHealth works in tandem with existing care models to ensure that people of all ages can receive the advanced or acute medical care that they need when they need it.
DispatchHealth’s Mobile Care Teams
DispatchHealth’s mobile care teams consist of a medical technician and either a physician assistant or a nurse practitioner (an emergency room physician is always available by phone). Their kits include just about all of the tools and technologies typically found in an ER. Thanks to our comprehensive service, our care providers can test for and treat almost everything that an emergency room can, excluding life- or limb-threatening or time-sensitive emergencies. Here’s a closer look at the people we serve and the range of conditions we can address:
People We Serve & Conditions Treated
DispatchHealth’s in-home service caters to everyone but is especially ideal for homebound individuals, those with limited mobility, and those with intellectual disabilities, among others. We also offer pediatric urgent medical care services, making us a top choice for busy parents with sick kids (over 3 months old) and limited options. To ensure that people in all conditions have the opportunity to benefit from the convenience of prompt medical attention, we provide in-home treatment for a variety of simple to complex illnesses and injuries, including treatment for exacerbated symptoms, suturing for wounds, and care for minor fractures. Other illnesses and injuries we frequently treat include:
- Asthma and allergies
- Bedsores and pressure ulcers
- Bronchitis
- COVID-19
- Dehydration
- Eye infections
- Flu (influenza)
- Food poisoning
- Infected wounds
- Migraines
- Minor sprains and strains
- Pneumonia
- Sinus infections
- Strep throat
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Our teams are also able to perform a wide range of basic diagnostic tests and minor procedures in home settings, such as:
- 12-lead EKG, PT/INR
- COVID-19 testing
- Flu testing
- Pregnancy testing
- Strep testing
- Stool culture
- Urinalysis and urine culture
- Catheter placement
- IV fluids
- Splinting, staples, and suturing
- X-rays
- Ultrasounds
After visits, we’ll provide continuity of care by following up with your primary care team and calling in any necessary pharmacy prescriptions. Should you require any additional services, our team can collaborate with a third-party, in-network imaging company.

Why are you excited to be a part of DispatchHealth?
My healthcare career has been primarily focused around geriatrics, although DispatchHealth sees patients from 3 months old and beyond. I love the fact that DispatchHealth is now a resource for my community, especially for those seniors with limiting factors such as transportation or even comorbidities that hinder them from leaving their homes. In addition to the exceptional patient care we provide, DispatchHealth is genuinely invested in their employees. They stand by their culture and strive to be a great place to work—and for me, it truly is!
Why is DispatchHealth launching in the Ocala area?
Besides having a great partnership with AdventHealth, who we’ve teamed up with for our Ocala location, we are looking forward to providing great care for the community as a whole and for members of The Villages—a neighboring town which has been ranked one of America’s top-selling communities for active adults (55 and older).
